Scene Inspirations

SCENE ONE

Taylor Swifts previous brand image was country pop just like ours. In all of her old videos she girls of a great impression and therefore promotes her image very well. We took inspiration from this by introducing our faces in a similar way to her, with a mid shot of our upper body. This introduces us to the camera and lets the audience get to know what were all about.

SCENE TWO

We defiantly wanted to include stereotypical country elements to our video like the barn, hay and the corn field as this gives connotations to what genre we were and made it easy for the audience to understand our themes and conventions. We thought the sun set on the corn looked immense and tried to replicate this in our shots at marsh farm.

SCENE THREE

Balloons have connotations to special occasions and fun and as soon as we saw Selena Gomez's music video for hit the lights we instantly knew we wanted to include them in our video. They are now one of our major themes and we feel this influence helped us noticeably improve our unique image.

Music Video Draft 4

This is our fourth music video trial and although there has been some clear improvement we and our audience still felt that it wasn't quite at the standard that we know we can achieve. Therefore picked out where we can improve and what we liked about the music video. We also asked an audience to view the clip and tell us what they thought could have been done better.

What is successful:
  • The video changing on the beat looks really good and makes the video more interesting
  • The purple/pink colour correct promotes the band image well and also incorporated synergy throughout all of the products
  • The transitions keep the viewer intrigued and work well when they are used
  • The use of editing has brought the boring sections to life

What can be improved:
  • The colour correction is not consistent throughout the whole video, makes it look unprofessional
  • The use of Vanilla at the start of the clip is a good way of promoting the band name yet it is very hard to read, distracting.
  • The quality of the clip is still very blurred, should try exporting it with different settings
  • The editing is used well but again not consistently, should be added in more to give off a better effect
  • Some of the faded-out effects simply made the video look of bad quality, I would choose another editing effect

Final Billboard Interview

This is our interview with billboard. We felt it was important to do an interview as they can reveal personalities that rant seen in music videos or on tv. As we are introducing a new band we felt it was important that our personalities were brought across so decided to produce an interview for all of our fans. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did...

DigiPak Advert

This is Our digipak advert. It gives information to our fans about our new and upcoming album and publishes our brand image. Synergy has also been used to encompass our pink theme and the logo has also been shown so that people know who we are. We took inspiration from Rhiannas advert as in has the same sort of lay out that we found worked well, the colour scheme is similar to ours and also Rhianna is a well respected artist and our aim is to have a fan base as large as hers some day.

Editing Inspirations

Whilst editing our music video we realised that other music videos of a similar genre have very creative editing techniques that we seemed to be lacking. Therefore, I research into what makes a music video interesting and what kept the audience intrigued and came across these editing techniques that really engaged me to the music video and I thought they would fit perfectly with the shots that we had put together.

Firstly...

In our music video we realised that we hadn't included the name of our band and also the name of the song. we wanted to make it easily accessible and noticeable that it was our music video therefore took inspiration from Miley Cyrus' video of 'Malibu'. It has the same fun loving vibe that we want to include in our video and also related to the balloon theme that we have included in our video.

Secondly...

We included shots in our video of all three of us yet realised that at the start of the video we had a very small amount of shots where we were all on screen at the same time. Little Mix are a band that are very similar to us and in their videos they had included a split screen where each of them can be seen. This would improve our video as all three of us would be introduced as united and it shows how together when we are singing we harmonise and make the song amazing.

Thirdly...

We were lacking in inventive transitions and this made the music video look very unprofessional. Little mix have always been a very well respected band and further through their video they included a very clever transition, again showing all of them and promoting their unity.

Each frame changes to the next person, introducing the new shot. this makes it interesting and also improves the end of the video.

All of these improvements have helped develop our music video and made it more professional and promotes our group as a unit, also improving our band image.
